Hi,
I'm André Wolke, a blockchain and AI engineer and founder based in Zurich. I spend a lot of time thinking about privacy — not in a theoretical way, but in a very real one. What kind of world are we actually building, and what quietly disappears along the way?
We've been moving in this direction for a while. From paper to digital. From brain-wallet to always-online password manager. From photo album to Facebook. From personal spaces to platforms. Every step felt like an upgrade. Most of them were also a handover.
But recently, something shifted. Systems don't just store what we do anymore — they understand it. Yesterday a phone provider searched for keywords and stored the data. Today AI workflows understand the meaning of what you shared. They connect it. They interpret it. They learn from it.
And to be clear — I'm not against AI at all. I'm one of its biggest fans. Used right, it sharpens your thinking, extends what you can build, and helps you reach ideas you couldn't reach alone. I use it every day. I just don't think we should disappear into it — quietly become log entries in the human database, vectors in models we'll never see.
That's why I build things a certain way. Self-hosted systems. Tools that don't send your data somewhere else by default. Music you own. Notes that don't phone home. Knowledge graphs under your roof. Compliance engines without a middleman. Small acts of refusal, shipped as software.
And I teach. At universities, in meetups, with clients. Because the real risk isn't AI itself — it's not understanding what's happening. If people don't understand the tools, they can't make real choices. I care about that, especially because this isn't short-term. I'm also a father, so I think a lot about what all of this looks like a few years from now — when today's defaults have become normal.
Anyway — this is what I'm working on.
If that resonates, you'll probably like what I'm building.
